Memories of a dear friend

Created by Patsy 6 years ago

There are some people in life that make you laugh a little louder, smile a little bigger, and live better. Jenny my dear friend, what a joy and privilege to know and love you. I have so many memories of our times together.

I was just 18 when I first met you and David and you made me so welcome. I so wanted to be like you - a wonderful mother, wife, cook and home-maker - I’ve been practicing ever since and I’m now 67!

I remember arriving at 223 Dorchester Road at midnight with a 15 month old with measles and a new baby, husband, dogs and our worldy goods house moving to Cornwall. You took both babies, gave me a hot bottle and a warm bed and woke me for breakfast next day. I treasure that memory.

You were there for Eleanor when she needed ‘Aunty Jen’ so much, just loving and caring for her - another precious moment in our friendship.

Other memories are of Roy singing Happy Birthday to you whilst only wearing his birthday suit and you telling him to ‘go iron it’.

Laughing hysterically whilst playing your version of Pictionary around the kitchen table.

Both of us wearing identical Pippa Dee nightdresses to a drinks party in the early 7O’s as we had nothing else to wear and we were such rebels.

Digging up old bottles from muddy ponds, making Christmas cards together, deadheading flowers and seedheads, sometimes inyour garden, sometimes someone elses!

Oh my, I shall miss you so much - love Patsy
